There are 51,353 manufacturing employers in Canada. Most are small, most are hard to find, and nobody checks the claim on the box. We built the place where buyers find them, the check that makes the claim mean something, and a way for the money to go back to the trades.
Why it is free to look and free to list
A directory that charges people to look is a list nobody uses. A directory that charges plants to be in it is a list of the plants with marketing budgets. Neither serves a six-person shop in Truro or a buyer in Mississauga who has been told to source at home by Friday. So searching is free, listing is free, and both are written into our terms rather than offered as a launch deal.
What we charge for, and what we do with it
The check is the product. A manufacturer pays once a year for a documented review of one product line against the Competition Bureau’s 51% or 98% threshold. It is priced by company size so the smallest shops pay the least, from $350.
Featured fees fund free checks. Larger plants can pay for a capped sponsored position. That money does not go to us. It goes into the Check Fund and pays for checks at plants with fewer than 20 staff, who would otherwise be the last to afford proof and the first to need it. 20% of revenue goes back, and you choose where. Every month, 20% of everything we bill, never less than $500, goes to a Canadian cause nominated and voted on by the people who use this site: a town, a school, a shop, a person helped through a local charity. Three rules we will not break
Sponsored is never checked. Paid placement is labelled grey, capped, and never sorts above a checked plant. The red mark is earned by a review and cannot be bought, by anyone, at any price.
We never touch the money. No commission, no escrow, no invoicing between buyers and plants. That keeps us out of the deal and out of the way.
Your cost data stays yours. Documents are seen by you and the reviewer, and by nobody else. Data licences, when we sell them, cover aggregates by category and region, never an individual plant.

Checked Canadian is an independent company in Toronto. It is not a government body, not an industry association, and not funded by any retailer.
