Conflict of interest policy.
Manufacturers pay us for the review. That is a conflict every paid review has, so here is exactly how we handle it.

Flat fee regardless of outcome. The manufacturer pays a flat fee for the review, set by company size. The fee is the same whatever the outcome, and no payment changes the result. There is no success fee and no refund for a pass or charge for a fail.
The reviewer is paid the same whatever the result. The reviewer's pay does not depend on whether a check is Checked, Needs information or Not met, or on how many checks pass.
Sponsored placement never affects reviews. Sponsored placement is not for sale yet. If it launches, it will always be labelled, it will be handled separately from reviews, and buying it will never affect a review or its outcome.
Who reviews today. Until a CPA reviewer is added, the business owner, Daniel Izeti, reviews each check himself. He also runs the business and receives its revenue. To limit this conflict he follows the written review method, records the reason for every decision, and the automated rules block any approval the numbers do not support.
Personal and business ties. The reviewer does not review a manufacturer in which they, or a family member, hold an interest, are employed, or have a supplier or customer relationship. If one arises, the check is paused and the manufacturer is told; it is refunded if no other reviewer is available.
Gifts. The reviewer does not accept gifts, hospitality or favours from a manufacturer that has applied or may apply.
Reporting a concern. Anyone can report a concern about a review or a record to concerns@checkedcanadian.ca.
