Checked Canadian is a directory of Canadian manufacturers with a dated, document-based review of their "Made in Canada" claims. Manufacturers pay a flat fee for the review. Here is who runs it and what keeps the review honest.
Who runs it
Checked Canadian is a business in Toronto run by its owner, Daniel Izeti. It is not a government body, not an industry association, and not funded by any retailer.
Who reviews
Until a CPA reviewer is added, the owner, Daniel Izeti, reviews each check himself. He is paid the same whatever the result. Read the conflict of interest policy for how this is handled. Conflict of interest policy
What keeps the review honest
The fee never buys the result. The manufacturer pays a flat fee for the review. The fee is the same whatever the outcome, and no payment changes the result. Sponsored placement is not for sale yet; when it is, it will never affect a review.
We never touch the deal. No commission, no escrow, no invoicing between buyers and manufacturers.
Your cost data stays yours. Documents are seen by the manufacturer and the reviewer, and by nobody else.
What a check is not
A check is not a government certification, not a legal opinion and not a plant visit. Only the Competition Bureau, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency or a court decides whether a claim is lawful.
